It's heating up across the world - the effects of El Niño caused global temperatures to climb heavily during the first few months of 2016, which was ALREADY growing hotter due to the average accumulation of Greenhouse Gases that has occurred every year - and it seems that 2016 is shaping up to be the hottest year yet. Temperatures are considerably higher than they were last year, and show no signs of slowing in their ascent, despite the gradual lessening of El Niño's effects and the claims of Conservatives that global warming isn't half as bad as all those evil scientists say it is. You can't deny concrete evidence, however, and concrete evidence says that it's getting really, really hot. Climate Central has reanalyzed the temperature data from recent months, averaging the NASA and NOAA numbers and comparing it to the average from 1881-1910, and this analysis shows that the year-to-date temperature through April is 1.45°C above the average from that period. Yikes! To make matters worse, carbon dioxide levels at the Mauna Loa observatory in Hawaii are already poised to stay above 400 parts per million year-round, where they have risen from a pre-industrial level of 280 ppm and from 315 ppm just since the mid-20th century. So not only is it getting really hot, but it will be increasingly difficult for temperatures to be regulated and kept from getting any hotter AS it gets hotter. Better get your Target coupons, folks, and pray to the Lord Jesus that Banana Boat sunscreen is on sale, because it would be just plain awful to come down with a bad case of skin cancer this spring.
